A very nice tea spoon made from light weight ‘Duralumin’ Zeppelin air frame material commemorating the test / demonstration flight of 5th August 1908.
Very nice ornate handle to the obverse and reverse detailing the flight.
A rare item !
On the 5th August 1908 the LZ 4 (Zeppelin) flew from Lake Constance down the Rhine to Strasbourg.
It stopped for engine repairs and while moored at the Flugfeld Stuttgart-Echterdingen air field was caught in a storm.
It was ripped from its mooring, and while adrift caught fire.
LZ 4 was subsequently completely destroyed by fire and crash impact.
(The last two image shown are of LZ 4 in flight and its crash site).
