A 1944 produced Stalag XVIIB sports day, single page programme of events. This is a French produced item (under the auspices of their German captors) detailing a small number of athletics disciplines, with the winning nation pencilled along side the event. An excellent example of a Turkish P.O.W.'s bead work, in the form of a snake. Excellent (as is common) bead work, using multi-coloured beads, to decorate the snakes body. Approx. 75 cms. in length excluding the hand carry strap. One or two beads here and their now broken free (but you have to look to find them). Supper item and piece of P.O.W. 'pass-time' art work. (Snakes and small ladies
A postcard size (140 X 90mm) photograph of a group of German WW2 POW's. Taken probably in the UK or Canada; showing a typical group shot of men in uniform, mostly devoid of insignia, and now appearing as a 'motley' group of POW's due to the dishevelled nature of there uniforms. Various ‘uniform’ types depicted. Reverse plain with no detail. Damage free.
A very nice item, and rare to survive 100 years 'Grand Military Gymkhana', Normanton Recreation Ground, July 1917 admission ticket. An event, locally organised, in aid of British held prisoners of war, to raise funds to send comforts. Some slight creasing, and age staining to obverse and reverse. The reverse advertising a military & scout outfitters (see images). A nice item !
