A superb WW1 vintage R.S. ‘Rover Scout’ service cap.
Heavy felt wool construction which is in very good shape, being damage free and showing only very slight surface moth tracking (now none active).
Exterior leather had band with some slight surface cracking. Interior head band showing light use and in excellent matching condition.
Silk upper liner with some areas of fragility but complete.
No visible maker details.
Complete with original chin cord.
Rover Scouts were used during the Great War most importantly as messengers, and more generally as helpers on the home front, a tradition that was later revived in WW2.
