WW1 BRITISH ROYAL ENGINEER CARRIER PIGEON SERVICE ARCHIVE

£250.00

Description

A small archive related to a Sgt serving with the Royal Engineers Carrier Pigeon Service, to consist of :-

A workshop made aluminium wrist ID tag on a crude wrist chain. Two family photo postcards with text to reverse. Clothing inventory form. The remains of a letter dated 5/19, stating ‘free from Vermin and Scabies’. A movement order to the Sgt in question dated March 1918 and most interestingly a “Triumph Motor Bicycles” note book owned by the Sgt. full, from cover to cover with names, service numbers, notes and details of Pigeon Loft Personnel .

Some superb detail given regarding pigeon service personnel and their unit ie ‘Loft’ Number.

Sgt Peck survived the war.

A grouping worth further research.
