An excellent condition other ranks, ‘denim cotton’ soft cap, sometimes latterly referred to as a ‘Trench cap’.
Superb damage free condition, with minor wear marking to the crown. Very good overall shape. (In my opinion the cap has for some time been fitted with a ‘crown shaper’, an internal band to make the cap crown ‘a nice round shape’. It is no longer in the cap, the cap being ‘floppy’).
Leather chin band in matching condition with some slight age wear cracking, and fragility at the left side fitting to the fitting button (see images).
Chin band held by two leather GS buttons.
Interior in matching condition fitted with an oil skin upper. Good clear WD and issue stamping. Maker and date details indistinct (again see images).
Fitted is an East Lancashire cap badge which seems to be original to the cap, having formed a shadow on the cap material. Front cap seam has been opened slightly where the badge is fitted.
In all a super cap becoming harder to find in this condition.
