A scarce ‘Wembley Stadium Ambulance Service’ badge.
Production and period of use is not now fully known. Use is ‘estimated’ to have been from the 1930’s through to as late as the early 1970’s.
The stadium was used regularly for grey-hound and speedway racing along with its more recognisable use of football finals and internationals, necessitating the need for a ‘permanent’ medical staff.
Multi-coloured enamel on gilt oval badge. Maker marked to reverse, J. R. Gaunt London with heavy needle pin fitting.
