A rare piece of Third Reich, Reichs Chancellory plated silver table wear, being a wine bottle ‘coaster’
A delicately made piece of table wear in plated silver by ‘Wellner’ with the outer edge of the piece carry the distinctive Reich Chancellory eagle and RK.
Some tarnishing and wear to some of the silver plating, but otherwise damage free.
Still with its original fabric cushion for the bottle to sit on and absorb wine spillage.
Superb overall condition.
Many Reich service buildings, not least of all high ranking officials homes and service buildings were ransacked at the wars end, and served as a ‘gold mine’ for souvenir hunters such as service men, and even local residents (using their ‘booty’ as post war currency).
Such items, now 70-80 years on occasionally surface and come onto the collector market.
This and a similar item were sold into a Kent antiques shop by a veterans family and as such offered to me.
New to the market item !
