(This item is not easy to show at its best with photographs….It is best appreciated when viewed in the ‘flesh’).
A German army enlisted-mans belt and buckle that has been ‘decorated’ with Third Reich war souvenir badges and British cap badges alike (their is also one American Rifle-mans item).
The belt may have been a ‘work in progress’ as there are older puncture holes for other badges which presumably were lost. All badges present have been in situe for a considerable time with the badges now showing an imprint into the leather and with an accumulation of dust and verdigris behind those fixed into place.
Some items are held in place by their own fittings, but a number of the German badges are with broken reverse fittings and are held in place with copper and steel wire.
There are four Third Reich military award badges and 3 Nazi political related badges, and various WW2 vintage British cap badges / titles.
The buckle is in pebbled aluminium with matching aluminium keep clasp. Buckle with maker details to reverse.
A superb period made item in ’damage’ free condition.

(Such belt & buckle ‘assemblies’ were a favourite war souvenir keep by British troops, making the belts up as their war / occupation service brought new items to them. This is the most complete item of its type I have encountered in a long time.
As with all war souvenirs they were illegal to keep by British troops. Some however made it to the UK and have survived their storage for ‘70/80 odd years’).
