A small ‘time capsule’ related to a Gordon Highlanders casualty 26th July 1918.
Contained in a vintage ladies outfitters shop box, marked “Ladies handbags’, the soldiers earlier worn navy blue glengarry with a London Scottish cap badge, fitted via heavy brooch in fitting. His tie, a patriotic patch, two small ‘ladies bands’ and a wallet with a goodly amount of ephemera, related to the casualty.
Cap is moth and damage free, with evidence of wear and some fading.
Ephemera includes his enrolment and service details. His identity card and much more (see images).
On a personal level there are two letters written in pencil and post card art works.
A nice grouping. Kept as a remembrance with the wording ‘Eric’s cap & tie & his Camerons badges & buttons’ Not an accurate description of the content.
I have added a found, period image of the wearer in the cap in this sold lot.
