A superb example of a 1943 labelled and dated Airborne Denison smock.
The smock is with light use and is in outstanding condition for its age and intended use.
The camouflage material is 98% damage free with one small hole to left sleeve and to the rear left lower hem) and with only a couple of small areas of staining.
Camouflage is the slightly different earlier pattern to the 1944 listed smock.
The wool cuffs are fully present, but are with wear and some storage mothing (see images).
The original crutch flap is present and in correct ‘working’ order.
Zip is bright and in very good clean working order, with a small area of wear to one side of the zip fabric. All brass poppers are present and in working order (care as ever should be taken when opening them).
The interior is with a good clear, clean maker/issue label, marked ‘Smocks Denison Airborne Troops SIZE 3’ with an issue date of 1943.
Rarely do I encounter 1943 dated smocks at all let alone in this outstanding condition. I would therefore rate it 9/10 and in well above ‘the average offered’ condition.
As with the 1944 listed smock it displays superbly on a mannequin form, and would fit in well with any period British Airborne display of this type.
