A fabulous set of homogenous, untouched leather (Army) field equipment.
Set consists of the belt & buckle, ammunition pouches, 'Y' straps and bayonet frog.
The overall condition is very, very good, with only some of the leathers stitching namely to the buckle keeper flap having suffered from age storage, which is now with some fragility (would re-stitch easily).
All the leather is supple and very handle-able. All fittings are present and in matching condition throughout.
The steel buckle retains much of its original finish with the belt leather retainer keeper in matching steel. Buckle is damage free
Their are various date and issue markings throughout the leather work and buckle, which in some cases are difficult to read.
The pouches appear to be matching maker marked, but having not disassembled are difficult to fully appreciate.
The belt leather is dated 1940, the pouches 194(X).
The set has been well stored for many years in France, and has only recently come into my possession and has never been offered in the market before.
I very nice piece of German field equipment thats ‘lived together all its life’ and would be hard to better for use and age match.
Displays very well when mounted on a mannequin.
