A fine example of a Royal Flying Corps officer service dress peaked cap.
Cap is in very good condition, manufactured in whip cord khaki material.
Narrow leather chin band is held in place by RFC cap buttons and the cap centre band is fitted with a fine example of a high domed RFC OSD bronze cap badge; held in place by two blades. (Only badge ever fitted, no multiple cap badge holes to the centre band).
Cap interior is clean, sadly with part of the water proof oil skin crown membrane torn away.
High quality leather sweat band shows moderate use, and is with a faint inked owner name to its underside.
A small area of cap cloth has been repaired quite expertly to the rear under side of the cap.
Its a ‘stand high’ cap with a sprung front crown (can me worn in two modes, ‘flat’ or ‘high’), the sprung front is with some wear and now does not lock firmly into place.
Overall, a fine example of an now rare cap to find in an un-interfered with state.
