A super kit bag item of the type sent to troops at the front as part of probably a bigger gift parcel.
Commercially produced in the UK, and bought by a family member or comforts committee.
Tin is the size of a ‘pencil box’ with painted pictorial hinged lid. When opened it springs forth a candle stand. Used as a source of light to write home by etc. thus making life at the front a little more tolerable.
Original dirt and dust to the box base where untouched for many years.
Stored well with some light surface rusting to tin lid and pictorial detail. Some paint charing to the tin ‘base’ by the candle where period used (see images).
A very nice ‘been there’ item of some rarity....only the second I have ever encountered in 40 years.

This is a SOLD Item.
It is currently on view in Mons Military Antiques ‘Archive Pages’ of previously stocked and sold items....For items currently on sale from Mons’ go to the ‘On-Line Shop’ pages !
