BRITISH WW1 NEW YEAR 1917 CITY of BRISTOL GIFT TIN
A gift tin patroned by the City of Bristol and issued to its West Country Regiments and men serving with the colours.
Like the 1914 Princess Mary gift fund, this gift was a publicly (albeit more locally) paid for, (in this case by the Bristol City council) and intended for the men and Regiments of its locality.
(My research has failed to determine the exact content, but I aim to continue my research using the Bristol City council archive as my best source of information).
Tin is in excellent damage free condition with storage scratching to the lid and sides.
The pictorial detail of the Bristol coat of arms is bright and in the main complete.
The hinged lid is in good, ‘easy’ working order.
A rare tin, locally raised in the vain of the 1914 Princess Mary gift fund, and interestingly aimed at the New Year rather than Christmas.

This is a SOLD Item.
