A rare matching set of field used Australian WW1 leather other ranks equipment.
Set consists of the belt, five ‘pocket’ ammunition pouches, large pack, small pack, water bottle cradle and the shovel head carrier.
All leather work is in excellent supple condition showing only light surface abrasions due to use. The canvas large and small packs are in similar matching condition being only grubby due to use, but damage free.
The leather work is marked in various places ’Australia’ with WD broad arrows and various serial numbers. The large pack is with maker details and WD arrow marks etc. to the inner front flap. Small pack appears unmarked. All brass fittings are present and in serviceable condition., as are all the rivets, were used in its construction. The set is missing only the bayonet frog and helve to be a complete set.
A hard item to find especially in this homogenous matching condition.
