WW2 BRITISH HOME FRONT N.F.S. SERVICE HELMET
A nice used NFS (National Fire Service) 'Northern' (Scotland) service helmet.
70% of the early original 'mid-khaki' finish, typical of this type of helmet remains with most wear being to the crown. One small dent, again to the crown just forward of the central interior securing bolt.
Interior is in excellent matching condition, with the early oval head liner cushion, and head band maker marked 'VERO' with the date of manufacture 1938. Helmet shell is with matching 1938 date to one of the chin strap keeper brackets. Interior liner is also with a WD broad arrow.
Helmet front N.F.S. transfer is with some wear and an area of chipping.
The the exterior front brim is with a rare latter added transfer showing the Scottish area / district command region 'Northern'.
I nice homogenous, early home front service helmet.

(Scotland un-like England had fire service districts, Northern, North Eastern etc. England had numbered fire force districts).
