A nice untouched Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (Auxiliary) Flight Officer’s service dress tunic.
Size in keeping with the vintage, with the tunic now being a little ’dusty / grubby’ due to service wear and storage.
No name present.
Two rank lace bars to lower sleeves and matching brass ’A’s to both collars indicating service as an Auxiliary.
This tunic has a nice touch in-so-far that is has the edges of the cuffs and elbow’s patched with leather. Indicative of this branch of the service as most volunteers had only one tunic….and as such they saw much wear.
WAAF personnel served in all ground force capacities at all RAF stations and office establishments.
Most Auxiliaries volunteered for service in the pre-war years of the mid - late 1930’s.
