THE OTTERMAN WAR MEDAL WW1 TURKISH GALLIPOLI STAR
The Gallipoli Star as it was most commonly called was instituted in March 1915 and was awarded for military gallantry. It can best be equivocated to the Iron Cross 1st class in rank.
It was awarded to Turks' and all allies of the Turkish Empire alike in WW1, but most commonly for foreign nationals, to include German officer and enlisted men serving in conjunction with Turkish forces.
This is an officer quality star finished in brass and red enamel.
Maker mark ’BB&Co’ to the remains of the reverse fitting assembly.
