A superbly engraved French mess tin as done by a British POW.
The tins craft work was initially started by a French POW, but with the tin being ’liberated’ his work has been cancelled out.
The sides are profusely engraved and letter punched by the new owner detailing not only his own service but that of other family members.
With the tin is a home sent POW letter from RFM. Gurr POW number 30856 of Stalag IXC, with official camp censoring quite clearly visible.
A super pair of related items, showing the craft of the POW.
The lid handle is absent.
