BRITISH WW2 SMALL RAF AIRCREW GROUPING
A small group of RAF items with escape and evasion connections.
A family informal photograph, OR’s cap badge, both VR RAF and regular RAF ID tags and interestingly, the escape and evasion photographs as issued to air crew for carrying in flight.
The two head and shoulder photographs in civilian cloths were the idea of MI 9 as part of air crew escape planning. They were intended for use in the production of false identification papers once an airman was brought down in enemy territory.
The escape and evasion passport size photographs were always produced on plain photographic paper for obvious reasons.
All items in good condition with some age wear etc.
The airman pictured is identifiable from his ID tags, but I cannot make out his aircrew qualification from the family photograph.
