WW1 BRITISH 1902 PAT. O.R'S SERVICE DRESS TUNIC
A well worn field used ‘02 pattern tunic, showing on the one hand much wear, and on the other, much character.
Tunic is with heavy field wear, staining and tares.
The damage appears not to be moth damage, but in my ’opinion’ service wear and damage. (The service life of an other ranks tunic with wear in the field was six weeks). There is commensurate staining also.
GS buttons all present. Sleeves with sergeant chevrons and crown above.
Right sleeve with O/S service chevrons indicating service throughout the war.
Shoulder titles (Y Stafford) are stitched in place with no fitting pins.
Collar ’tailored' and lined.
Field dressing pocket open. Interior with WD issue stamping but issue label long gone.
White liner as is correct.
A much used tunic which has in my opinion also been dry cleaned in more recent years. This is a helpful process to negate moth.
Displays very well on a mannequin body with equipment of similar use.
Most definitely a field used tunic that has ’been there'….and not a de-mob tunic.
