A rare example of this specialist RAF service’s officer cap badge.
Gold and silver bullion wire now with a little fading and tarnishing. Slight wear also to the red velvet crown insert. All wear due to field wear.
Excellent overall condition. Moth and damage free.

The Ocean Weather Service was created in 1947, with the British arm forming part of a four nation service.
The RAF arm of the service worked in conjunction with civilian weather service’s with the aim of providing not only civilian weather prediction but more importantly weather information for the benefit of the armed forces, especially the Royal Navy and RAF.
The specialist RAF meteorological personnel seconded to the service were always small in number, making uniform insignia a rare collectable.
