WW1 BRITISH, 'FRENCH COTTAGE INDUSTRY' WRIST TAG
A locally made by French citizens, wrist ID tag from a period French coin.
The reverse has been polished clean and the details of the wearer added. ’H.C. Green C. of. E A.S. Corps’
Continental silver chain and keeper with all links silver marked.
These type of ID tags were produced by French locals and jewellers in the same cottage industry manner as woven silk post cards and sold to B.E.F. members as keep sake of their ‘time in France’.
An above average type of tag. Most of this type were manufactured with base metal wrist fittings.
