A superb early WW2 privately tailored BD top formerly the property of Lt Col L.C. Thomas DSO MC and bar (amongst others) Northumberland Fusiliers.
This top is 'totally' privately tailored rather than the more usual encountered issued tops that have had personnel adjustments and tailoring alterations made to them.
Label to inside pocket giving tailor details owners name and date of manufacture / issue.
Pre WW2 medal ribbon bars to upper left breast to include DSO MC and bar and WW1 trio to name but a few. (no WW2 medal ribbons appear, showing this to be a WW2 service worn item of dress, rather than post WW2).
Cloth red backed pip and crown to shoulder straps. WW2 economy printed cloth shoulder titles and battalion formation signs to both sleeves.
Top is in excellent damage free condition with only the very minorest traces of moth; top also being slightly grubby due to honest wear.
An excellent top relating to a well decorated and intersting WW1 & WW2 serving soldier.

An account of some of Lt Col Thomas's WW2 activities in the Singapore campaign of 1942 can be read on the web in the 'Britain at War' forum headed 'Tomforce', article supplied by Ross Wood.
