RAF / AM SAFE CONDUCT ‘CHIT’ SOVIET RUSSIA
A good used flimsy silk safe conduct ‘chit’, as carried by aircrew to aid escape / safe conduct should they be ’downed’ on Soviet held territory.
In the later stages of WW2 RAF bombing raids were flying further and further east on German targets and subsequently passing over Soviet held territory after hitting their target.
Such ‘chits’ were issued from 1944 onward to aid British air crews hitting such targets.
