RAF 'B' TYPE FLYING HELMET WITH 1939 MAKER LABEL
A superb, un - touched condition Air Ministry 'B' type flying helmet, complete with large style maker label, this label being also dated.
Helmet leather is in outstanding supple, bright condition, showing very light honest service use only, and now appearing dark tan / brown in colour. Very faint marking to the leather exterior beneath the right ear cup.
Good ‘Size 2‘, 6 7/8 - 7. All straps and buckles present and in good matching order. Ear cup zips in good working order. Interior of helmet showing light use, wear and sweat staining.
Large silk maker label present giving size details No. 2. 6 7/8 - 7, date 1939 (this date being scored through and under dated 1941...being the year the wearer came into service / helmet was issued), made by 'Wareings (Northampton) Ltd' , St James St Northampton‘.
In all a stunning helmet, becoming harder to find especially in this size and condition !
