Firstly before all the boring 'rules and regulations', I would like to say thanks for visiting my site and hope that you find something for your collection or of interest.
Now for the 'Do's and Donts' and my 'Modus operandi' !
All details of Business, ‘Terms & Conditions‘ and Prices & Descriptions of items offered for sale in this internet shop, are current and ‘up to the minute‘.
They are subject to change without prior notice, and replace any previously advertised details.
Mons Military Antiques Guarantee.
All items advertised / offered for sale within Mons Military Antiques on-line shop are of original period manufacture unless stated otherwise. I offer an absolute no quibble money back guarantee on all goods supplied subject to the terms listed below.
- Should you be unhappy with the item(s) ordered in any way, you should contact me within 7 days of receipt of the goods. The item can then be returned, provided that it is returned in the exact condition as sent, for a full, no quibble, refund of the purchase price, or exchanged for another item, which ever is the buyers preference.
- Refunds will only be given on receipt of items being returned. If an item is not notified to me for return within this time period, it will be considered to be sold.
- Any refund should it be required will be made in the form of a Mons Military Antiques business bank account cheque in Sterling. For items paid for via Paypal and credit cards via Paypal, refunds will be made via a Paypal refund. Both 'types' of refund, as detailed here are without exception !
- Mons Military Antiques will not be liable for any currency conversion charges, on overseas buys on returned goods. Outward bound and return postage costs are not refundable, should an item be returned for what ever reason. Any expenses charged to Mons' on returned items from overseas such as import duties or import VAT by UK customs, and or postal handling charges, are not refundable.
- This refund offer does not apply to any goods purchased in error (including errors in translation of the text of this web site to another language); or items purchased on behalf of a third party. Nor dose it apply to goods that have been damaged, disassembled or tampered with in any way after purchase.
- I supply items for collectors / collector static display purposes only. No item is sold as a wearable item. With this in mind I do not guarantee the fitting of any clothing, footwear, headgear, equipment etc. nor their suitability for ‘every day’ or ‘live display’ wear in any capacity. With most listed items now between 70 -100 years of age, no item is sold with its original function in life guaranteed ! ….Mons Military Antiques does not sell NEW off the shelf items, they are antiques ! Only size generalisations and those visible on any one given items issue label are detailed. It should be assumed (by any potential buyer) in all cases that items are of a size in keeping with their original vintage rather than ‘modern builds’. Most items listed fit mannequin display forms of a size equal to period ‘builds’. NO REFUND can be made for a ’non-fitting’ item under any circumstance ! (If size is critical it is suggested that an item is viewed prior to making an order at a militaria show that Mons Military Antiques attends).
- Overseas buyers:- The responsibility lies ENTIRELY with the buyer to ensure that any ordered item(s) is allowed to be imported into their country. If an item has to be returned to Mons’ because it cannot be imported into your country, I can offer other goods to the same value in exchange, less any return postage and import costs incurred, but am unable to give a refund. In the un-likely event that an item(s) is seized / confiscated (this has never happened to date) rather than returned by a foreign import Custom, it should be similarly understood that no refund can be offered by Mons‘.
Acknowledgment and Acceptance of Orders.
No contract will exist between you (the buyer) and me (Mons Military Antiques) until I have received full payment from you, and I have dispatched the ordered item(s). Please note that my initial automated acknowledgment of your order does not constitute acceptance of that order.
You may also receive a payment acknowledgment e-mail from Paypal (if paying via this method), this again does not constitute acceptance of that order.
Should I for any reason decide not to accept your order, I will advise you accordingly and explain why via e-mail. Any monies paid, appertaining to said declined order, will be refunded.
All items listed / sold by Mons Military Antiques comply with UK laws.
New items are listed frequently under my random listing policy !
Some coming listings are now ‘advertised’ via my ‘Home Page’ message board and social media such as ‘Face Book’.
Frequent site viewing is always recommended.
Mons Military Antiques lists and sells 20th century political / military history related artefacts; moments in time ! NOT the politics that motivated them !
Mons Military Antiques endeavours to describe all items for sale via its web-site as accurately as possible, to include any faults and or defects appertaining to any one given item.
With most items listed being of an age (i.e. in excess of 70 years in many cases) it is not always possible to give an ‘inch by inch’ text, detailed description.
With this in mind, please feel free to contact me via e-mail with specific questions you may wish to address regarding any item of interest to you. Mons’ will be happy to help with reasonable, additional information (and images) required on items still available for sale. Any additional description / photographic images supplied to interested parties will also be added to the item in questions description for all to see.
Mons Military Antiques uses the term ‘un-touched’ in many of its item descriptions. This means in the context of the description, that the item in Mons’ opinion has been un-touched or altered in any way in recent times. It does not account for repairs or alterations that may have been carried out on an item while in its service life. These repairs / alterations if any, I will endeavour to describe and photograph as accurately as possible.
I NO longer give measured size details of garments or equipment, should this be requested by e-mail !
Medal / Badge Grades & Descriptive Words.
The terms gold, silver and bronze within item descriptions refers to medal or badge grades rather than actual metal content. Precious metal, medals or badges will be described as such with any relevant visible markings.
‘Theatre Made’ describes an item manufactured local to the theatre of war that it appertains to.
Veteran Pick - Up.
Items listed with ’Veteran Pick - Up’ at the end of the description means I have sourced this item direct from a veteran’s family or veteran, and that the item has never before been offered in the ’market place’.
Information Requests / Valuations.
Mons Military Antiques on line shop / web site, receives a significant number of information requests as to 'price opinions' and ‘opinions of originality’ on items not stocked by Mons‘. Please be aware that I am unable to comment on either matter and that any request of its type will receive no reply at all.
Mons Military Antiques is also receiving increased numbers of requests for ‘appraisals’ on items owned by the public. As a commercial organisation I cannot supply 'free' appraisals and valuations on items owned by site visitors as a matter of course. The relevant public museum is always my recommended request point for information / data, the museum staff as public servants should have the time to help.
(Established / known clients I am always happy to help in what ever manner I can).
Mons’ will however, on an agreed fee basis give verbal and written valuations / appraisals.
For organisations (i.e. TV, Film & Theatre etc.) wishing it, technical advice for their productions is also available again on an agreed fee basis. (I can of course only supply information within my sphere of ’expertise’).
For those prepared to meet the above criteria please be aware that photographic images of what ever nature, text descriptions via e-mail and verbal telephone descriptions are not a suitable medium for me to properly evaluate an item. Therefore:- Valuations / appraisals can and will only be given on physically viewing an item(s) !
(TV, Film & Theatre, please note that Mons' does NOT operate a loan or hire service of uniforms & equipment etc).
Mons’ Pricing Structure.
Mons’ price’s the items listed on its web pages as ‘keenly’ as is possible from the outset !
Pricing is done in such a manner to show a modest profit margin and to offer the item as affordably as possible.
With this price structure in place, Mons’ is unable to discount items from its listed prices.
Items Offered for Sale or Part Exchange to Mons Military Antiques.
Mons Military Antiques is happy to buy and or take in part exchange items that collectors wish to sell or part exchange.
I am quiet happy to receive the offer of items, as long as the offer meets the following few simple guide lines.
1, The item must firstly fall within Mons’ stock criteria !
2, The item will need to be priced by the seller, as I no longer make offers for items !
3, Images / pictures are always use-full on an initial sales approach made to me (but not imperative) !
4, Sellers will need to be willing to send an item(s) for final appraisal and payment, should terms be agreed by both parties !
In the matter of buying in items, I am aware that I have no ‘divine right’ to buy all / any item(s) offered, nor do I expect to do so, due to the nature of business and individual requirements.....Sellers; please be aware that the above four points are a buying in criteria of mine, which I now rely on greatly to aid purchasing.
If a seller, is for reasons of their own unable to meet the above pointers, especially points 2 and 4, it is probably best not to trouble themselves to make a sales approach in the first instance. I will under no circumstances be drawn into making offers or enter into negotiations that require me to be the valuer of items as well as the buyer. Nor will I pay for items offered 'un-seen' (Not applicable to known Mons' clients) !
Any offer of an item(s) will receive at least on my part, a courteous reply, even if the reply is in the negative from the outset.
Making a Purchase & Item Reservation
The item photographed and shown as images accompanying an item description is the actual item that you are purchasing unless otherwise stated.
When ’committing’ to purchase an item via my fully-automated check out system, the item(s) chosen / ordered, will remain listed on the sales page, with some subtle changes to the listing.
The price stated on the item will disappear and in the bottom right corner of the item description will appear a RESERVED ‘banner‘. The reserved banner will stay in place during the payment / dispatch period and will be replaced by a SOLD ‘banner’ a day or so after your item has been posted. This gives you, the buyer time to receive and appraise the item(s) purchased.
Items ordered irrespective of the mode of order will in the main be reserved for 4 days pending payment....This time period I strictly adhere to, and is ample time to make a payment.
If payment is not received within this period Mons Military Antiques will revoke the item reservation and any contract made either verbally, in writing or via e-mail is null and void.
Mons Military Antiques will not accept an item reservation and them be asked for extra images or information on said item....Please make an enquirer on any item of interest before making a reservation.
Any order made, irrespective of the mode in which it is made, is accepted on the understanding that all Mons Military Antiques terms and conditions have been read, clearly understood and accepted by the potential buyer.
Making an Order by Telephone.
Mons Military Antiques is happy to take orders and reserve items via telephone. This can be done with cash, UK bank cheque and bank transfer payments only.
Orders requiring Paypal / Credit Card payments via Paypal have to be carried out via my automated on-line check out system. Mons’ does not handle in any way, any credit card details of its buyers. This is a security feature built into my web site, for the benefit of site customers.
Telephone buyer contact details must be supplied with telephone orders, at the point of order or via email within 24 hours of the order being made.
The information required is :- an email address, telephone number and first line and post code of a postal address.
If no details are given or forwarded, items will not be reserved.
Reserved, Sold & Archived Items.
Once an item is site listed as reserved / sold, or added to my archive page, no discussion can be entered into regarding the item other than with the buyer.
Should a sold, reserved or archive listed item for what ever reason become available again for purchase, then any help a potential buyer requires regarding said item will be willingly given.
Availability of Goods.
This web site is designed to show only items of stock that are still available for sale (excluding reserved and sold marked items).
It is however still remotely possible that an item of interest could be sold during your visit to the site.
In the unlikely event of a simulations purchase (by two different buyers) on any one item, the purchaser whose confirmation e-mail arrives first will be deemed the buyer of said item.
The unlucky ‘buyer’ who may still receive a buyer confirmation will be informed as to eventualities as soon as I am able to. Any monies sent on an unsuccessful order will also be returned as soon as I can. (I use the wording ‘as soon as I can’ as I may be out of office, or it may be out of UK office hours should this occur).
Payment for Items.
Payment methods accepted are detailed below:-
UK CHEQUES / BANK DRAFTS etc:- Mons Military Antiques will reserve an item(s) for four (4) days pending payment !
Payments made by UK Cheque, Postal Order, Money Order, Bank Draft etc, should be made out to MONS MILITARY ANTIQUES. (Payment by UK bank cheque:- Known customers items will be posted on the next post out prior to receiving payment. New clients, please be aware that their will be a clearing period of funds prior to item dispatch).
UK BANK TRANSFER:- Items will be reserved for the same time period as above (4 days).
Mons Military Antiques relevant bank transfer information will be supplied to all buyers wishing to use this means of payment on request, at the point of order.
INTERNATIONAL BANK TRANSFERS:- Items will be reserved for the same time period as above (4 days). Payments to be made in Sterling only, with all charges to the buyer (charges will be notified at the point of order).
Mons Military Antiques relevant bank transfer information will be supplied to all buyers wishing to use this means of payment on request, at the point of order.
As the user of business banking services, my bank ‘takes the opportunity’ to charge a fee for all automated international transfer transactions.
I have in the past absorbed all costs, but charges are now at such a level that I can no longer continue this. Each transfer costs me £15.00.
Purchases of £99 and under will carry a transfer charge of £15.00.
Purchases of £100 - £299 will carry a charge of £10.00.
Purchases of £300 and over I will bare the cost.
UK transfers are also charged but at a much reduced rate; which for the time being I will bare.
CASH:- Cash is not a recommended means of payment ! It is however acceptable if it is the buyers preferred means of payment. Items will be reserved for the same time period as above (4 days). Cash in an agreed currency is acceptable but as long as its sent via REGISTERED POST, for the senders safety.
No responsibility can be accepted by Mons Military Antiques for cash payments should they be lost in transit, irrespective of the mode sent.
PAYPAL:- Items will be reserved with IMMEDIATE payment only. Items paid for via Paypal or credit card via Paypal carries a 4% service charge. (This charge covers paypal charges levied to Mons Military Antiques only). This charge is automatically calculated when placing an order.
If Paypal payments (if this is the chosen means of payment) are not processed and issued at the point of order, and do not accompany an order for what ever reason, the item(s) ordered will not be reserved and the ‘Reserved' banner on an item(s) will be immediately removed, making it available for re order or purchase again.
It is the buyers responsibility to make sure that their payments are processed properly via Paypal and credit cards via Paypal.
Mons’ no longer informs buyers that a Paypal or credit card payment via Paypal has failed.
PAYPAL / e-CHEQUE:- Item reservation / payment via e-cheque. I will reserve items for 4 days pending the clearance of an ‘e-cheque’ via Paypal. If no payment is cleared within this time period, items will be taken off reserve. (Does not apply to known customers).
GENERAL PAYMENT NOTICE:- All payments to be received in British Pounds Sterling (£) only. Payments, should they be made in other currencies, will carry a bank handling charge (this will be advised once presented to our bankers) and these charges must be paid before any item(s) is dispatched; or may be refused as a means of payment altogether.
Most methods of payment will reserve an item for 4 days. This is ample time to make a payment once ordered.
I strictly adhere to this reservation time period, but will of course help with 'situations' and extend this, if kept informed !
If you wish to make a payment by a means other than those listed, please approach me first before making your order to confirm that your proposed means of payment is acceptable.
Full invoice’s / delivery notes are issued with all orders detailing the mode of payment.
Mons Military Antiques preferred means of payment (for UK customers) is in the form of a UK bank cheque.
This form of payment is in danger of becoming 'extinct', due to bank policy. Mons' considers it a useful means of internet transaction currency and as such is trying to perpetuate and save it !
Site Currency Converter.
The currency converter on my site offers an approximate currency conversion only. This gives overseas buyers an ‘idea’ of the cost of an item in their own currency.
The Sterling price stated on an item is the actual price, and not conversion approximations.
(I recommend that overseas buyers make their own enquiries as to currency conversions to verify actual rates of exchange).
Delivery Charges & Postal Dispatch Schedules.
All orders are subject to a packing and delivery charge.
ALL ORDERS WILL BE DISPATCHED TO THE ADDRESS GIVEN ON YOUR SITE ORDER FORM. If you require an order sent to alternate address please make this clear in the COMMENTS section when making your initial order. (This is a VERY IMPORTANT part of making your order, so please do make dispatch / delivery details clear!)
Delivery charges will be calculated via the site automated ordering system and are based on the total weight of your order, your location and my STANDARD postal charge method of dispatch.
The postal charges are calculated as your making your order and are VIEWABLE prior to your order confirmation !
Most items are sent via Royal Mail services to keep postal charges to a minimum. Private postal services may need to be used for items of unusual size or value. This will be determined / agreed (and charged accordingly) with a buyer before an item is sent, via e-mail correspondence.
Quoted postal charges via the site automated postal charge system are for STANDARD postal services.
I try to send items with at least ‘Some Value’ cover via Royal Mail post within the UK and via Royal Mail’s International services, for overseas buyers on all orders. Buyers MUST however satisfy themselves as to the cover that they require, as these services do not always give ’absolute / full’ cover !
All orders made and processed via the site automated postal charge system, with no further contact from the buyer, via telephone or email etc. will be assumed to require the above detailed STANDARD postal services only, and that the buyer is SATISFIED with this cover !
Paypal / credit card via Paypal purchases will only be dispatched via a track-able form of post.
Dispatch Schedules / Dispatch Advice:-
All orders are dealt with in chronological date order.
Post output now is a major part of Mons’ operating time; the ‘down side’ of this is that it is very, very time consuming.
I am fully aware that buyers would like their items dispatched as quickly as possible after making an order. With this in mind, I have until now (September 2016) dispatched parcels regularly, on occasions, on a daily basis.
This I am now unfortunately unable to continue with, due to the time involved.
Mons Military Antiques will now dispatch parcels TWICE WEEKLY as orders dictate.
I try to be as obliging as is practically possible regarding all postal matters, and will naturally increase post out-puts over particularly busy times (Christmas etc.)
Occasionally a buyer requests an item be sent by ‘Ordinary (non- track-able) Post’ only. This I’m happy to do on purchases made and paid for by any means other than Paypal and credit cards via Paypal. Mons’ will obtain a certificate of posting on all items dispatched via this manner.
All parcels are double checked for the correct item(s) ordered / content, prior to sealing up and dispatch !
Please do not hesitate to contact me for accurate cost effective postal quotes on all types / sizes of orders, either prior to order, or on ordering any item.
Bespoke postal services, tailored to the buyers own requirements are available on all items, but must take the form of a written (e-mail) request.
Once an order is made by what ever means and accepted, it is understood by the buyer that they accept all Mons Military Antiques terms and modes of dispatch and or any advice regarding dispatch of ‘POST SENSITIVE’ items that Mons’ feels it needs to impart.
Mons’ will dispatch via post or courier what they (the carrier service) deem ‘Post Sensitive’ items, at the buyers risk entirely.
In the interests of the environment and costs both new and used clean packing materials are used for item dispatch.
Item Insurance While in Postal Transit.
Mons’ offers a world wide export scheme, (as well as all forms of inland post) and trusts & relies on the various delivery systems used to work properly.
It must however be understood that items are sent entirely at the customer's own risk. Mons' will pack all items well to prevent damage, and obtain all relevant dispatch documents etc.
Mons Military Antiques will be happy to oblige with all postal and insurance requests / requirements at the buyers cost.
In the unlikely event of a parcel being lost in transit, Mons Military Antiques will not be liable for such a loss. Insurance, to the limits quoted by the delivery company involved, against loss or damage is included in my STANDARD delivery prices, but offers only basic cover.
Buyers MUST SATISFY THEMSELVES as to the means of dispatch required, (should it differ from Mons’ standard dispatch as calculated by the auto check out system) and the corresponding level of insurance required on their purchase !
Mons Military Antiques will be happy to supply all the relevant postal documentation needed for the buyer to make the necessary claim themselves, from the postal company used, should an item be lost while with the postal services.
Mons’ keeps all individual postal receipts for six months. After this time said invoice will be disposed of securely.
Buyers may be interested in this postal / dispatch statistic of Mons‘…… Postal problems of any kind incurred to date:- NIL.
International Buyer’s, Post Terms, Condition’s & Restrictions
Royal Mail has introduced a new overseas service and amended its existing ‘International Signed For’ service (the service I have been using since its inception without problems)
INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR:- This service now offers limited parcel cover, for loss or damage. It is now just a signed for service on delivery, it is no longer track-able. This service was amended 1st April 2014 and covers 190 destinations.
INTERNATIONAL TRACKED:- This is an additional service which offers limited cover for loss or damage. It is a track-able service with no signature required on delivery. This service as of 1st April 2014 covers 33 destinations.
INTERNATIONAL TRACKED & SIGNED:- This is an additional service which offers limited cover for loss or damage. It is a track-able service with a signature required on delivery. This service as of 1st April 2014 covers 43 destinations.
Full details of Royal Mails terms and conditions and a full list of destinations covered by said services is available at, www.royalmail.com/international . I strongly recommend that buyers make themselves fully aware of these services, as these are the STANDARD services I use to dispatch 99% of overseas orders.
Royal Mail now has restrictions on post addressed to International Post Box (PO) number addresses.
International buyers need to be aware that Royal Mail postal services does NOT accept parcels that are addressed to PO Box numbers for the following services
INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR
INTERNATIONAL TRACKED & SIGNED FOR
Home, office or non PO Box address of their choice must accompany an order !
Mons Military Antiques treats ALL postal details with absolute integrity and security.
International buyers choosing non track-able services are not affected by Royal Mail‘s above terms.
These terms are Royal Mails and not mine. I however have to abide by them.
Please contact me for more details if you are unsure as to how to now proceed with an order.
Due to a few problems with payments (non -payments) and post delivery issues in Mid. African and Middle Eastern countries, Mons Military Antiques has now to be selective as to how too deal with purchases from these areas.
If you wish to make a purchase, and you are located in either of the area’s listed please e-mail first for payment requirements, and my dispatch procedures regarding such orders.
I reiterate, that it is:-
1, The buyers responsibility to make sure they have supplied the correct return address details to me, for use on their parcel.
2, The buyers responsibility to make sure they have the correct insurance cover that THEY require, on their purchase, and that the said cover is in place and paid for, prior to Mons‘ dispatching said parcel. Once an item is posted it is expressly understood by the buyer that the mode of dispatch is / was their mode of choice and is FULLY acceptable, with any / all limitations on the service FULLY acceptable also.
3, The buyers responsibility to make sure that an order is a permitted import into the county of destination (this for overseas buyers only).
‘Easy Payment’ Plan.
I am happy to sell items on easy payment plans !
Items may be reserved with a 20% deposit and the outstanding balance paid for over a mutually agreed time period.
No excess charges or interest will be incurred on the order. A minimum purchase price of £250.00 is applicable to qualify for ’Easy Payment’. This is applicable to multi-buy orders as well as single items.
Item(s) ordered will be held on reserve by Mons Military Antiques until the full agreed payment is made, and then dispatched. ‘Easy’ payment is at the discretion / acceptance of Mons Military Antiques on any order request.
All easy payment transactions are on an ‘individual arrangement basis’ and are subject to variations due to purchase value and time required to pay. I will in all cases try to be as accommodating as I can.
Once a buyer has committed to an ‘easy payment‘, and started their payments Mons’ will NOT be liable for the refund any monies sent on items not fully paid for. Other item(s) can be supplied to the value of monies sent only, excluding any postal charges.
‘Easy payment’ once agreed will be subject to the first payment being received within Mons’ 4 day reservation period.
If no payment is made in this time period it will be assumed by Mons’ that the item(s) is / are no longer required by the buyer; the item(s) will no longer be held on reserve and that any payment agreement made either in writing, email or verbally between Mons’ and the potential buyer will be null and void.
I have in the past, accepted orders via deferred payment, i.e. Reserved an item on request, with full payment (no deposit or easy payment) being made on an agreed date.
I can now only offer this payment scheme with a 15% of the item purchase price deposit; to be received within my 4 day reservation period.
The deposit paid on any item(s) under this payment scheme is NON-REFUNDABLE, should the buyer not complete the transaction as agreed, for what ever reason. Goods to the value of the deposit paid, excluding any post charges can be supplied only.
If no payment is made to Mons’ within its 4 day reservation period, the item(s) reserved will no longer be held on reserve, and any payment agreement made either in writing, e-mail or verbally between Mons’ and the potential buyer will be null and void.
Slow & Non-Payments.
Slow payment can result in an item(s) being taken off reserve, with the possible loss of the item by the initial buyer!
Please be aware of this as item reservation times are strictly adhered to....
With the advent of a small number of ‘time wasting individuals’ ordering items, and for reasons know only to themselves, not paying for said items; Mons’ now operates a zero tolerance toward such activities.
Anybody making an order from my site and not completing the transaction / payment, and making no attempt to contact me, will be duly noted.
Non-payers; should they make future or repeat orders….said orders will be at my discretion.
Price on Request
Items marked with ‘Price on Request’ means just this. The interested party will need to e-mail Mons’ to obtain the price required for the item listed.
Items marked in this way will be dealt with in 'request made', chronological order i.e. the first to register an interest will have sole rights to the item until such time as they relinquish their interest for what ever reason. I will then pass on to the second interested party and deal in the same manner.....so on and so forth.
Once a buyer commits to buy, no further ’correspondence’ will be entered into with other potential interested parties.
Should said buyer retract their interest, then negotiations will pass onto the next interested party as described above.
E-mail:- e-mail is as you know a fast and effective means of communication. Mons’ communicates via e-mail, where needed, all relevant details appertaining to orders and post regimes.
Mons’ also makes very good use of its Home Page automated site messaging service and 'Mons Site News' header to make general announcements to keep site viewers abreast of all matters appertaining to site orders, post and site listings.
It is strongly suggested that clients use e-mail too keep Mons' informed of ’beyond the norm’ situations after making an order, thus avoid misunderstandings, and to make clear to Mons’ any requirements / circumstances that may occur during a transaction.
Incoming e-mails are answered immediately on their receipt. Any incoming e-mail that does not have a subject matter attached i.e. received by me headed ‘No Subject’ will be deleted with out even being opened !
Telephone answer regime:- I can be contacted on my office number (when I am in my office) during standard office hours. My cut off time for answering the office number is approximately 6.30pm UK time (messages can be left after this time or when I am not in my office during the day).
I am contactable on my mobile number when not in my office, or at other times within reason.
BLOCKED TELEPHONE NUMBERS:- Incoming 'Blocked' number calls are usually ignored as most I find are teli-sales of some description, or enquiries of a non serious nature.
All genuine buyer personal details are used by Mons Military Antiques in relation to the transactions made from Mons’ on-line shop only, and are treated with absolute confidentiality !
Mons’ does not store customer information of any type, that could possibly be accessed or used by third parties.

Internet Discussion Forums.
I personally am not a big user / fan of Internet Forums, primarily because of the amount of false information that seems to abound on them.
I am given to understand that Mons Military Antiques, or more to the point, items Mons’ has offered for sale, have appeared on internet discussion sites and have been the subject of favourable comments; this is ‘nice’, but I’d much prefer to hear from an individual on a personal basis rather than it be a subject for public debate.
I thank those users (sadly I don't know who many of you are) that have mentioned items of mine in a kind / favourable light on the various Internet Forums I am aware of.
On the ‘flip-side’, there are forum users that use said platform to pontificate, criticize and generally put down other peoples collections, collectables of items offered for sale….because they can without redress
I am NOT anti Internet Forum ! Many knowledgeable friends and customers alike use them and have been most helpful to me in giving good, valid help and advice when I have sought it.
I do however wish the forum invigilators would police their own sites more efficiently and weed out the pointless, erroneous and in some cases slanderous threads.
True collectors / academics use the 'web' for the general good, and have my utmost respect and support. I value greatly their opinions and knowledge....The internet is the modern information wonder of the world....it sadly like all other forms of media has its corrupters !

Age Verified & Post Sensitive Listings
All items sold by Mons Military Antiques fall within UK National laws.
Laws of foreign (to the UK) countries may differ from that of the UK and due to this I must reiterate again that it is the BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY to make sure that ANY item ordered from my site is permissible in their own country.
The following five sub-points details Mons' approach to the sale of 'age sensitive' collectable's.
- Any such item offered from Mons' will comply with ALL UK laws and where needed will be sold with any accompanying legal paper work or certification.
- Ordnance and deactivated weapons (and any publication, official or others wise, dealing with such items) can and will only be dispatched to UK addresses due to the complexities of overseas laws and postal restrictions.
- UK law on such items states that said items can be sold to persons of 18 years and over....In the interests of safety and responsibility to the collecting world and public alike Mons' has on its own initiative extended this age restriction to 21 years on any item 'it' offers for sale that falls within these categories.
- Age verification will be requested by Mons’ on any order with age requirements, if said verification does not accompany the initial order. This will be requested in the form of a return e-mail.
- If no age verification is submitted at the point of order or when requested by Mons', post making your order, then the sale will be rejected and cancelled !
'Post Sensitive’ Listings
I have recently researched post dispatchers terms and conditions!
ALL, including Royal Mail state that ‘De-activated weapons’, ‘De-activated ordnance‘ ‘Swords’ and ‘Knives’ of any description with a blade longer than 3 cms. are prohibited items and are not permissible for dispatch or carriage via their own services at home or overseas.
Having spoken to various representatives and pointing out that said items can be legally owned in the UK, they conceded this to be a ‘grey’ area and that post is permissible in the UK provided that items are packed securely.
Dispatch of such items overseas is still very much a debatable subject due to the variations in overseas laws, and as such Mons’ will not dispatch outside UK borders.
I have dispatched dress daggers etc. overseas, with the buyer informing their own customs that such an item will be crossing their border controls i.e. overseas buyers have met all their own countries customs requirements.
Post on all such items is treated on an ‘order by order’ basis via Mons Military Antiques.
A brief description of what ‘cookies’ are and how they work on my site is as follows:-

Web Site Lay-Out
This site is hosted via concept500.
While it is impossible to have a ‘totally’ individualistic appearance due to certain concept500 hosting parameters and plagiarism on the part of other site managers, I do try to present as individualistic a style of sales, and sales aftercare as is possible.
My items are usually listed in small ‘theme’ based batches.
I regularly clear sold items from the site sales pages, so you will not encounter many already sold items, still on view.
Site listings are kept at a fairly constant listing level, with approximately 80 - 90 pages of items (800 - 900 individual items) to view at any one time....This I feel is ample, making site viewing comparatively easy, rather than a chore !
I carry more stock than that shown, some of these items are sold before they have the chance to be listed.
Listings are sub-divided by category to make site viewing easier and quicker, with ‘area of interest’ viewing possible.
I do my best to keep the site as 'tidy' and up to date as possible.
Terms and Conditions Summary.
All the above ‘Terms’ are in place to try to cover all customer / site viewer ‘buying eventualities', and to cover Mons’ 'Modus Operandi'.....they are there as much for the buyer as myself.

UK Distance Selling Laws
I am fully aware of UK 'distance selling' laws, which have been designed for the sale of new, shop bought items.
I am happy to sell to any buyer who is prepared to meet my own fair terms and conditions, that gives ample time to receive and appraise an item.
Anyone wishing the luxury of buying a ‘70 - 100 year old item’ and expecting the same selling ’distance laws’ as for a new item and expecting said 70 - 100 year old item to be fit for purpose today as it was when it was new, is not a buyer that I’m able to be of assistance too !
